Artist Statement As an artist I study how lines, positive and negative spaces, lights and shadows work together to form space and visual pathway’s. I work in layers, wet on wet, to build textures. Sometimes adding paint heavily to form direction and other times taking paint away by scraping or scratching to reveal what is beneath. I draw inspiration from the world around me creating a visual record of today from an artists point of view. Capturing it a moment at a time. As an artist I preserve the present for the future in this ever changing world.

Biography
Jessica Fligg is an award winning artist primarily working in oils. Jessica studied painting at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester. She works from her studio in Ashland, NH and paints extensively en plein air. She started drawing at a very young age with her Great Grandmother and her interest and passion for the arts has grown over the years. Jessica Travels throughout the Northeast with her newly restored vintage camper that she uses as a mobile art studio. This is a wonderful way for her to experience new areas and capture them in plein air paintings. Jessica paints en plein air throughout the year in all types of weather but her favorite time to go painting is in the middle of a snow storm! She sets up her trusty beach umbrella to use as a shelter and captures the snowy scene. Jessica also works on mixed media pieces and larger studio works that are inspired by her plein air adventures.
